Dec. 8, 2015 – On Sun., Nov. 29, the First Sunday of Advent, Pope Francis called on all Catholics to “assume their responsibility” for the care and discernment of vocations. He made his appeal in his Message for the World Day of Vocations 2016, which has the theme “The Church, Mother of Vocations.”
Dec. 1, 2015 – Padre Ismael Moreno Coto (known affectionately as Padre Melo) the director of two Jesuit social ministries in Honduras, recently visited some of the Jesuit institutions in the USA Northeast Province to talk about his work.
Nov. 30, 2015 – On December 1, Emmylou Harris will bestow the first Jesuit Refugee Service Award for Accompaniment to Sister Denise Coghlan, RSM, for her work with the displaced in Cambodia. In the fall of 2016, Ms. Harris plans to spearhead a series of concerts to support the work of JRS.

Nov. 5, 2015 – On Thurs. Nov. 12, human rights activist, Fr. Ismael Moreno Coto, SJ, more commonly known as Padre Melo, will speak at Fordham University about the struggles that families and young people face in Honduras due to poverty as well as the injustices in other Latin American countries forcing people to seek refuge in the United States.
Nov. 2, 2015 – Volunteers, board of trustee members, friends and staff of Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown, N.J., gathered in the gardens behind the 111-year-old mansion, to take part in a special dedication ceremony in memory of Frank Diassi, Sr., Loyola’s original groundskeeper.
Nov. 3, 2015 – On Nov. 5, Jesuit Connection will host Pizza and a Pint and Ignatian Conversation on the topic of Meaningful Connection in the Digital Age. The speaker, Michael Rossmann, SJ, editor-in-chief of The Jesuit Post, will look at how to use modern tools in ways that promote deep encounter.
Nov. 2, 2015 – Jesuit schools are committed to educational excellence in the formation of young men and women. "Our Way of Proceeding: Standards and Benchmarks for Jesuit Schools in the 21st Century" is helping Jesuit schools throughout the Northeast identify and enrich core elements of Catholic and Jesuit mission and identity.

Oct. 29, 2015 – On Thurs. Oct. 22, Le Moyne College held a dedication ceremony in honor of a new statue on campus depicting the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius Loyola. Fr. John Bucki, SJ, rector of the Le Moyne Jesuit Community blessed the new statue at the ceremony
Oct. 26, 2015 – Last week, 33 Jesuit delegates representing Canada and the U.S. met for the first time and made several important decisions in preparation for General Congregation 36. Over the course of the next year, the delegates will have a unique opportunity to prayerfully consider the Society’s current state and, more importantly, its future.
Today, October 22, is the feast of Pope St. John Paul II who Pope Francis canonized earlier last year on April 27, 2014. During the papacy of John Paul II he was able to visit 129 countries, canonize 483 saints and see the Church enter into its third millennium of existence.
