April 5, 2016 - In a letter to the parishioners of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in New York City, Provincial Fr. John Cecero, SJ, announced that Cardinal Timothy Dolan has accepted his nomination of Fr. Dennis Yesalonia, SJ, as the parish’s next pastor. Fr. Yesalonia will begin his new role starting on June 1, 2016.
March 31, 2016 - On March 23, it was announced that Provincial Fr. John Cecero, SJ, has appointed the recently ordained Fr. Dennis Baker, SJ, as the next director of Xavier High School, Chuuk. Fr. Baker’s term will begin on July 1, 2016.
March 24, 2016 - Fr. John Breslin, SJ, died on March 21, 2016. He was 72 years old. Fr. Breslin was born in New York City on Aug. 19, 1943. He attended Regis High School in New York, graduated in 1961 and entered St. Andrew on the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., that summer, and was ordained in 1973.

His parents, with their three daughters and 7-year-old Irenee, had fled the chaos of post-genocide Rwanda just weeks earlier, in 2006.

March 15, 2016 - Pope Francis will canonize Mother Teresa on Sept. 4, in Rome later this year. This day is significant because it will be during the celebration of the Jubilee for volunteers and workers of mercy and Mother Theresa has come to be a symbol of God's mercy for the poor and discarded of this world.

March 10, 2016 – In his third Apostleship of Prayer video, Pope Francis speaks on his March intention of Families in Difficulty. The video highlights different families throughout the world. “I want to share with you and with Jesus my prayer intention for the month: That families in need may receive the necessary support,” says Pope Francis, “and that children may grow up in healthy and peaceful environments.”
March 8, 2016 - On Sun., Feb. 28, a group of approximately 50 pilgrims, comprised of students and chaplains from the College of the Holy Cross, Assumption College and Anna Maria College, walked through the dedicated “holy door” of Worcester’s St. Paul Cathedral to mark the Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Feb. 25, 2016 - On Aug. 1, 2015, the Jesuit parishes on Staten Island, N.Y., consolidated to form one, unified parish, as the result of a lengthy planning process that began in 2011. Feb. 3, 2016 - The Maryland and USA Northeast Provinces sponsored a “Jesuits in Trusteeship” workshop at Boston College High School from Jan. 8 to 9. This workshop was an invitation for Jesuits to explore what it means to be a Jesuit trustee, with particular focus on our secondary and pre-secondary schools.
