Sharing Jesuit General Congregation 36 Highlights
Dec. 1, 2016 - From Oct. 2, 2016, through Nov. 12, 2016, 215 Jesuit delegates gathered in Rome for General Congregation 36 to discuss the future of the Society and elect a new Superior General.

Deeply rooted in prayer, the work of GC36 encompassed all manner of concerns that affect the governance and future of the Society, as well as its expansive missions that shape untold numbers of lives in some of the most remote places on the globe. In addition, the Congregation elected Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ, of the Venezuela Province, as the 31st Superior General of the Society of Jesus and the first Latin American to serve in this capacity in the history of the Society.

A special highlight of the Congregation was the visit from Pope Francis, himself a Jesuit, who walked unaccompanied by Vatican staff into the Jesuit Aula and greeted all who had assembled there to receive him. During his hour there, the pope prayed with delegates and responded to their questions.

Below are GC36 resources that have been assembled for purposes of experiencing again and again the graces that infused those six weeks in Rome. Please enjoy the resources linked below, which include a fine and comprehensive video.
