Fr. John Cecero, SJ: The Knock of the Holy Spirit

September 3, 2014 – Fr. John Cecero, SJ, provincial of the New York Province of the Society of Jesus, was featured in an article published this week by the Jesuit Conference, in which he speaks about his priestly vocation and his Jesuit assignments as a teacher, counselor of those in need and, most recently, professor of psychology at Fordham University.

Fr. Cecero first encountered the Jesuits while attending St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia. He recalled in the article, “I was attracted by their obvious joy and humor. What struck me is how much they enjoyed working together and enjoyed the work they were doing.”

From a young age, Fr. Cecero had a talent for talking to people and would eventually pursue a doctorate in psychology. His work with psychology was deepened by his work as a priest. “You can’t talk about human beings unless you talk about spirit,” Fr. Cecero told the Jesuit Conference.
